Come
Back To The Islands
That's
how you'll feel when you hear the sounds of The
Island Trio Steel Drum Band. The Trio has
been performing up and down South Carolina's coast
for more than six years, frequenting such spots as
Kiawah Island, Seabrook Island, Myrtle Beach, Hilton
Head, and many local Charleston venues. This three
piece band provides high energy party music that is
guaranteed to get everyone out of their seats and
moving in a conga line.
The
Trio consists of Tim Mathias, a music major from
Winthrop, playing authentic steel drums, percussion
and vocals. He has been involved in steel drum manufacturing,
tuning and sales for over ten years. Chris "the
Zorg" Sordelet, guitars and lead vocals, has
been performing in the Charleston area since the late
seventies in a diversified number of bands. Jay Callahan,
bass, guitar, keys and vocals, hails from a strong
musical background and provides solid, foundation
building, rhythms which enables The Trio to
reach their number one goal -- making people happy.
The
Island Trio Plays a wide variety of music which
expands from traditional calypso, beach, reggae, to
good old rock and roll. The band keeps the dance floor
packed. From the melodic sounds of Belafonte's Jamaican
Farewell, to the party sounds of Buffett's Boat Drinks,
The Island Trio focuses on audience participation
as their main source of energy. The band spends a
lot of time in the audience pumping up the crowd,
and the fun and the party begins.
So
find your loudest Hawaiian shirt, get yourself a tropical
frozen drink, and get ready to enjoy the exciting
sounds of The Island Trio. Be Prepared, however,
to bend over backwards, because...The Trio
comes equipped with a limbo pole and they want to
know "HOW LONG CAN YOU GO?"
