as those just starting out agree on one thing regarding
Tim Malchak......This is how this thing is. |
|
EVOCATIVE! Tim Malchak is
perhaps the foremost evocative balladeer to emerge
in the last two decades. Combining a distinctive style
with imaginative, precise and focused lyrics, he is
not afraid to take the poetic chances necessary to
reach out to his audiences and open their hearts to
love and life and the joys and sorrows of both. Without
question, Tim is the quintessential troubadour. He
has followed in the footsteps but not in the shadows
of his early influences Jim Croce, Harry Chapin, and
James Taylor, traditionally elevating the art of song.

|
TALENT! Raised in Binghampton,
NY Tim fervently pursued a musical career becoming
a staple on the northeast coffeehouse scene. After
several years honing his talents, he prudently decided
to broaden his playing field nationally thus moving
to Southern California. He gained recognition opening
shows for Kenny Rankin, Spyro Gyra, Commander Cody
and Pablo Cruise. Absorbing what he could from influences
along the Pacific he came east again in 1983. Only
this time the move was south of the Mason/Dixon directly
to the heart of the music, Nashville, Tennessee.

|
APPEAL! The coffeehouse circuit was in a lull
but surprisingly Tim found his music had broader appeal
than he thought. Country music fans embraced him as
one of their own. He signed with Alpine Records and
several of his releases climbed to the midpoint of
the Billboard charts. "Colorado Moon" broke
the Top 40 barrier and established Tim Malchak as
a gifted and influential songwriter. Billboard Magazine
honored him as "one of the top ten new artists
of 1987." |

"THE COAST IS CLEAR" January
of 1989 brought Tim Malchak a major label deal with MCA/Universal.
He went right to work and in May of that year released "Different
Circles". He has released five albums to date. Perhaps
the best of these is his latest: "The Coast is Clear".
Tim just keeps getting better at his craft. The acoustic
music scene is more popular than ever before. So is Tim
Malchak. Intimate concerts are a comfortable living room
for Malchak adn those that he engages. His appeal has crossed
barriers and bridged gaps. Fathful longtime fans as well
