Allyson and Ken Carrington offer a great deal of diversity when arranging the music for any sized group or function. They are available as a duo or in any combination to fill a variety of needs. They are equally at home in an acoustic environment or in a situation or in a situation where they provide the sound equipment to furnish live music to a large group.
Their complete wedding includes harp music for the pre-wedding as well as the highland pipes playing for both the processional and the recessional. After the service the duo provide a wonderful blend of background music for the reception.
Ken Carrington has always had a love for music in many styles. He began taking piano as a child, but it was during his time as a transatlantic sailing captain that his love of music began to cost him. He started to not only appreciate, but to collect musical styles and instruments from around the world. From the haunting sounds of the highland bagpipes to the earthy tones of the wooden xylophones, Ken covers many musical forms; yet, even with all this diversity, his favorite musical time is spent playing the standards
Allyson Carrington began studying piano at the age of five. Although her playing of the piano won her a scholarship to Salem College, it was the ancient and mystical sounds of the harp which captured her heart. She has been sharing these alluring sounds with audiences throughout the southeast since her college days in Salem. Her move to the mountains of western North Carolina was highlighted by winning the Emerging Artists Grant in 1992. Her infusion of passion into many musical forms affords her the ability to achieve a wide range of musical styles.
