The Dick Goodwin Big Band has a huge and incredibly versatile repertory, from current hit tunes, to old time rock and beach music, party animal favorites ("I Feel Good", "YMCA" etc.), specialty musics (line dances, Latin, Jewish, country, polkas, waltzes, fanfares, processionals, grand marches, etc.) and of course the traditional big band numbers ("In the Mood", "Sing, Sing, Sing" etc.) that have been experiencing a new vogue with dancers and listeners of all ages.
The Dick Goodwin Big Band has performed at major social events in the Carolinas and in Georgia and Virginia, including conventions, country clubs, weddings, company and association parties, debutante balls, bar mitzvahs, inaugural balls, charity functions, arts associations, service organizations, and stage shows.
The group operates with a full complement of ten instrumentalists and two vocalists with tons of professional experience and eighteen degrees in music between them. However, various smaller combinations are also available.
Leader/arranger Dick Goodwin, is a professor at the University of South Carolina where he teaches music composition and writes music for the marching band half time shows. Dr. Goodwin is also well known as a performer and has toured numerous times to Latin America and to Germany with the Dick Goodwin Jazz Quintet. He and others in the band have performed for such entertainers as Natalie Cole, Bob Hope, Johnny Mathis, the Spinners, Henry Mancini, the Temptations, Rich Little, Gregory Hines, Ray Price, Barbara Eden, Les and Larry Elgart, and the Platters.
Flexible, talented, on time and in tune with your style and your needs, the Dick Goodwin Big Band is professionalism at its very best.
